This course introduces the fundamental practice of prayer in the Christian
faith. Designed for beginners, it explores various forms of prayer and biblical foundations;
participants will learn various types of prayer, engage in guided prayer experiences, and cultivate
a personal prayer life that integrates faith and daily living. They will be equipped to confidently
engage in prayer, integrating biblical wisdom and personal experiences in their communication
with God.
Course materials:

- The word of God/ The Bible for reference
- Journals and pens for personal reflection and writing personal prayers
Week 1: Introduction to prayer
- Understanding Prayer: The purpose and importance of prayer in the Christian Life
- Types of Prayer: Adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication, and intercession.
- Scriptural Basis: Examination of key passages on prayer.
Week 2: Different Postures and Ways to Pray
- Practice Postures: Bowing, kneeling, reaching up, and many other postures we will be speaking of and praying with Scripture.
- Exploring Silence: Pray and silence to hear God speak to you
- Personal Reflection: Journaling and reflection on prayer experiences.
Week 3: Intercession and Praying with Others
- Intercessory Prayer: Principles and practices of praying for others.
- Spiritual Warfare: Understanding spiritual battles and prayer strategies while praying for others.
- Group Dynamics: Group intercessory prayer, those that would pray with you.
Week 4: Developing a Personal Prayer Life
- Establishing a Routine: Creating a daily prayer routine.
- Integration of Prayer: Connecting prayer with daily life and decision-making.
- Final Reflection: Sharing personal insights and growth in prayer.
Outcome: By the end of this course, participants will have acquired foundational knowledge of
Christian prayer, practical skills for various prayer methods, and a personalized approach to
integrating prayer into daily life. They will be equipped to continue growing spiritually through
ongoing prayer practices and community support.
Course Requirements:
1. Attendance: Participants are expected to attend all sessions. Each session builds
on the previous one, so consistent attendance is important for progression.
2. Participation: Active participation in discussions. Sharing experiences and
insights will enrich everyone's learning process.
3. Homework: There will be weekly homework assignments, including reading
specific Bible passages, practicing different types of prayer, and journaling
reflections.
4. Reflection: Participants should spend time in personal reflection and prayer
outside of class sessions to deepen their understanding and practice.
